Lancaster Sleep Study
We are a team of researchers from Lancaster University. We are conducting a research study to learn more about the day to day experiences that different groups of people have. We want to investigate the impact of sleep and activity patterns upon mood in people with fibromyalgia.
If the answer to any of the questions below is ‘yes’ then we’d love to hear from you.
- Would you like to learn more about your sleep & activity patterns?
- Would you like to learn more about your mood?
- Would you like to take part in a new, innovative research project?
What’s involved?
In order to get detailed information regarding the stability of your sleep patterns, routines, and mood fluctuations, we will ask you to wear an activity monitor (similar to a wristwatch in appearance) for seven days. In order to obtain real-life momentary experiences you will be sent automated text messages to your mobile phone at random times throughout the day. When you receive a text, you should complete a short set of questions about your mood in a diary which we will provide. Please note: you will receive a maximum of 10 texts per day and only between the hours of 8am and 10pm. If you do not own a mobile phone one will be provided, and it is not expected that you will respond to every text (for example if asleep, driving in the shower etc.). As part of the study we will also ask you to complete some questionnaires regarding your personality, routine and mood.
What’s in it for me?
At the end of the study you will be given personalised feedback about your own sleep and activity patterns during the study week. You will also be paid £10 for your time. For more information, or to apply to join the study, please contact Faye on: 01524 592768 or alternatively you can This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
