Georgie Montgomery and Ellis Stewart will be sky diving on the 29th April to raise awareness and funds for FMA UK. Ellis told us: ‘’We will be diving through the sky to raise money for a cause close to both of our hearts. We're supporting Fibromyalgia Action UK as both of our mothers suffer from the disease, which causes agonising pain on a daily basis - so the least we can do is jump out of a plane!’’.
Georgie and Ellis have already raised £260 and you can support their effort by visiting their JustGiving page:
The 12th May is recognised as the international fibromyalgia awareness day. Charities and groups around the world will be organising events to increase awareness of the condition. Why not celebrate with us and raise awareness by organising a coffee and cake event? This could be with your family and friends in your home, in your workplace, in a local cafe or even a picnic in the park.
We would encourage local fibromyalgia support groups and our supporters to organise coffee and cake mornings up and down the country. If it is your local support group meeting, then why not ask partners and friends to come along, extending the reach of the support group on International awareness day.
Requesting resources for your event
If you wish to order resources such as leaflets, booklets and posters about fibromyalgia, please ensure you place your order (free of charge) prior to Friday 28th April 2017, so that we can get them out to you in time. Orders must be completed via the resources form at www.fmauk.org/resources. Orders received after Friday 28th April 2017 cannot be guaranteed to reach you in time for your event.

Alex has finished the half-marathon on 12th March with a great result: time of 1:39:06 and raising £340. Congratulations to Alex! He told us: ‘’ I'm a second year computer science student at the University of Essex. I have always wanted to run in a long-distance event and I felt that this was a good time to take part in the Colchester half marathon. I chose to run for FMA UK because two relatives of mine are affected by fibromyalgia’’.
Alex is still accepting donations for FMA UK through his JustGiving page:
there is also the following facebook site for the study:
Lara Brown from Can You Escape? explains to us why and how the company is supporting FMA UK this March. ‘’We pick which charity to support based on suggestions from our staff, and Fibromyalgia Action UK was a popular choice. One of our Games Masters mentioned that a family member suffers from the condition and not enough research is being done to discover a cure, making it an obvious choice for one of our charities to support! Can You Escape? provides an escape room experience for teams of 2-16 people. Teams are locked in a room for 60 minutes and are faced with a series of clues, puzzles and challenges they must solve in order to beat the clock!
