The Black Country Group: Thank You for Your Support by Judith Peace

I feel that since I received a diagnosis (one that I had to fight hard to get - a whole story in itself!) I have achieved so much in regards to my status as someone with a chronic illness - an illness that I have had to live with alone all my life, without support from any source. I received a diagnosis of chronic pain syndrome including fibromyalgia and other (many other) co-conditions in November 2003 when I was 42 years old. A Barcelona Wheelchair Adventure by Kathy Longley
Barcelona is a place of bustling interconnecting passageways which end at wide open squares displaying fountains, cathedrals or market stands. My parents and I weaved our way from our hotel in Ronda De Sant Antoni past the Museum of Contemporary Art towards the famous cathedral square in the old part of the city. We paused for a while on the historic La Rambla, lined with trees, to admire the street performers and soak up the general party atmosphere. The warm autumn sun from a clear blue sky made a welcome change from the dreary grey skies we had left behind at Bristol airport and we revelled in the Mediterranean climate discarding coats and jumpers to expose our skin to the warm rays of sun....

Here she tells us about her journey with fibromyalgia and what attracted her to jewellery making....

Be responsible – look before you leap! With Life Coach Pam Wright
It can be quite shocking for anyone coping with the pain and fatigue symptoms of Fibromyalgia to learn that, at present, there is no one-size-fits-all management of the condition available.  It is easy to panic or to assume that because your GP is unable to provide an immediate cure for you, then there are bound to be people in the complementary and alternative medicine world who can.  So what can you do to stop yourself from feeling totally helpless or becoming vulnerable to the attentions of anyone and everyone who purports to be able to provide the elusive ‘magic’ cure?…
