A - Z of Fundraising Ideas

Still unsure of how you would like to fundraise for Fibromyalgia Action UK? Have a look at our A to Z of ideas for some inspiration. They range from simple, to super weird and fun.

Alcohol-free - go alcohol free for a month and donate what you would have spent. Get friends and family to join in or donate.
Abseil - Collect sponsorship from people or set up a JustGiving page. Not only will you raise funds, but you will partake in an experience that you won’t forget. Test your limits of fear!

Brave the shave - collect donations during the countdown to shaving off your hair.
Bake Sale - Get your apron on and bake some treats! Have a bake sale at an event and send all proceeds to FMA UK. These are easy enough to arrange, and allow people to make and try out their recipes.

Cycle - set the distance, and ask your friends and family to donate as you complete your challenge either indoors or outdoors.
Cocktail Night- Fancy a drink? Having a cocktail night can be a fun way to raise money. Charge an entrance fee, and get making those Mojitos! Donate all of the proceeds to FMAUK, and enjoy a cocktail or two… or three.

Declutter - declutter your house and sell your unwanted items in our eBay shop
Dinner Party - Come Dine with Me but without the cameras. Similar to the Cocktail Party idea – invite people over and charge a fee whilst cooking them up a scrumptious dinner. Fajitas. Spaghetti Bolognaise. Shepherd’s Pie. You call the shots.

Eighties Night - Throwback the decades with an 80’s themed night. This can be hosted in a house, function suite etc. Charge an entrance fee, get the music blaring and now you can have an excuse to embarrass yourself dancing.

Fancy dress - This could be at work, or even just on a night out. Choose a theme, and get all of your friends or family to dress up and impress.

Games Night - This could be interesting. Why not host a games night (If you don’t like heated arguments, we’re not sure Monopoly is a good choice) and get your friends/family to make a donation in order to play. Donate your proceeds to us, and try and win your bragging rights.

Hiking - Why not go on a hike? Hikes are a great way to experience the outdoors and breathe fresh air into your lung. As it’s your hike – you can do as much as you want or feel you are able to. Get friends/family to sponsor you and donate the proceeds to the charity.

International Evening - Why not get your friends round and host an international evening? Think of a country and what cuisine you could serve, music etc. and experience a bit of new culture! Charge an entrance fee or ask for donations and send them over to us.

Jumble Sale - ask friends and family to donate their unwanted items.
JustGiving - Nice and simple. If you don’t want much hassle, you can simply create a JustGiving page to get donations from your friends/family. All proceeds go straight to the charity, and little effort is required to get one up and running.

Karaoke - Have a laugh and host a karaoke evening in your local pub or online via Twitch. This could go either fantastically well or horrendously bad – depends on who is singing. H – videos are on Youtube for free if you can’t get access to a karaoke machine. Get everyone who sings to make a donation, and have a great night of throwbacks and potentially high-pitched screeching noises.

Loose change - Received a few spare pennies in change? Save them up, and over time they will add up. It may not seem much, but it can make a large difference if lots of people do this.

Murder Mystery Evening - Who was the killer? These nights can turn into a great laugh with friends and family – charge a ticket price and then get dressed up and enjoy a fun filled night with laughs and some potentially embarrassing dress up.

Non-Uniform day - This can apply to work and school – why not encourage a school to host a non-uniform day and have children donate £1 to do so. Alternatively, if you wear uniform, why not have a dress down day in work and get colleagues to donate.

Office Party - As it approaches the weekend, why not host an office party? Get food and drinks bought in, and have a nice end to the week (if the boss gives the thumbs up). Leave out a collection tin and get everyone who partakes to donate money.

Personal Challenge - Do you have a goal or something you’d like to achieve? If so, why not collect sponsorship money in order to motivate you to try and do so. This could be the goal of completing a 5k run, or even passing an exam.

Quiz - Organise a quiz, whether this is in a Pub or simply in the house. Quizzes are a super competitive and fun way of gaining new knowledge and having a laugh. Charge an entrance fee for teams, and aware the winner a prize. After, you can then donate any proceeds to the charity.

Raffle - run a raffle, asking local shops or companies to donate prizes or services. Keep it legal by following the advide of the Gambling Commision.
Run for us - Complete a run for us and collect sponsorship from friends or family. This could be any run, ranging from a 3k to a marathon – it’s completely up to you what you do.

Swear Jar - Do you feel yourself always effing and jeffing? A swear jar requires you to pay a fine everytime you say a swear word! At the end of a month, add up all the proceeds then donate them to the charity.
Skydive - You could jump out a plane for the thrill and make a memory of a lifetime as well as raising funds. Skydive for FMA UK

Tombola - Tombola’s are a classic way to raise money for charity. If there is a local event nearby, why not set up a tombola? Ask people to donate prizes and then sell tickets to people. Collect up all of the ticket money and send a donation to us. Keep it legal by following the advide of the Gambling Commision.

Unwanted Items - Sell your unwanted presents or items in our eBay shop

Volleyball - Have a volleyball tournament! These are a fun and competitive way to raise money. Charge an entrance price, and play for fun!

Walk to work - Do you want to raise money whilst improving your wellbeing? Why not do a sponsored walk to work – collect money from friends and family and walk to you work. Just be sure to remember your umbrella with the unpredictable weather!

Xbox streaming - Why not host a charity stream for hours, and create a JustGiving page which you can encourage followers to donate to? These are becoming more and more popular.

Yearly challenge - Set yourself a challenge and get sponsored. Do it across the entire year. This could be losing weight, learning a new sport or even a hobby such as crochet.

Zip Wire challenge - Not for the faint hearted! Collect sponsorship and do a zip wire experience. A terrifying but adrenaline filled experience you won’t forget. Afterwards, donate all proceeds to us.
