Running for Fibromyalgia Awareness: Jenny Hobson's Story

At FMA UK, we’re always inspired by the incredible individuals who turn their personal challenges into powerful opportunities to raise awareness of fibromyalgia.

This month, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Jenny, our final member of Team Fibro, and a dedicated supporter who is once again lacing up her running shoes – not just for the love of running, but to help raise the profile of a condition she knows all too well.

Jenny is 46 years old and a director of her own engineering business. She also lives with fibromyalgia, a condition she has been managing for the past 15 years.

“I have suffered from fibromyalgia for the last 15 years, and I am so excited to be able to run the GNR and raise the profile of this condition,” Jenny shared with us. "I struggle on a daily basis, but running and keeping fit really help, even on days when I struggle.”

This won’t be Jenny’s first challenge – far from it! She completed both the London Marathon and Great North Run in 2024, and in 2022, she walked a marathon during Fibromyalgia Awareness Month to raise funds for FMA UK. Her passion for running and raising awareness continues to shine through.

Jenny is dedicated to raising awareness of fibromyalgia. Before she signed up for the race, Jenny told us that as someone with fibro, she wanted to run for FMA UK to highlight the condition. "I believe we need to raise the profile of fibromyalgia – and what better way to do so than by raising money doing what I love: running.”

We are so grateful to Jenny for her continued support, determination, and dedication to making a difference for the fibromyalgia community. Every step she runs helps bring more awareness to a condition that is so often ignored and misunderstood.
